Anna Porter is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health in the School of Health Professions at the University of Southern Mississippi. Anna's research interests are related to physical activity and the built environment. She is primarily interested in studying how bicycling is influenced by the built environment, and further how bicycling conducted as part of daily life, such as transport related bicycling, can contribute to the prevention of non-communicable diseases and other socail ills. More generally, Anna is interested in how city design influences health status across a broad spectrum, and how specific types of physical activity shape health and wellbeing.
Outside of work, Anna is an avid cyclist, knitter, baker, and adventure seeker.
